On Monday night our grandparents, Anyu and Poppa arrived from Paris where they had been for a few days. We stayed in a place in Tel Aviv for three days then, on Friday we got up and drove to Mitzpe Ramon. The drive was about two hours long but it was fun. It was fun because: 1. We got to listen to music. 2. We were driving through the desert so the view was pretty cool!
When we arrived we drove straight through the village of Mitzpe Ramon and back into the desert for a few more minutes then finally we arrived at the Alpaca Farm! We then went around and checked out the farm and our little cabin.
Here is what the farm was like: there were a bunch of big pen like things. Some of them had alpacas in them and others had llamas, horses, and goats sheep, camels and pigs in another pen. There were also lots of dogs wandering around. You could get food and feed the animals. Every morning and afternoon after the farm had closed to the public the workers at the farm would drive around in a golf cart with a trailer full of hay and pellets (only in the morning) and feed the animals lots of food. The people working at the farm would let the people staying at the farm help feed the animals.
So here is what we did at the farm: there were two English-speaking girls staying at the farm. (one was my age and the other was younger) we hung out with them and feed the animals with them but, they left the next day. Every morning Adam and I would get up at 8:00 and help feed the animals. During the time that we weren't busy Adam and I would feed the animals.
Saturday morning we went on a jeep tour of Mitzpe Ramon. Mitzpe Ramon is not actually a crater it is called a makhtesh. Millions of years ago Mitzpe Ramon was an ocean, and over millions of years the ocean created basically a mountain and when the ocean washed away it took some of the sand that was the inside of the mountain with it so it kind if is like a volcano that shape just no lava or anything. Mitzpe Ramon is the largest makhtesh in the world. The jeep tour was amazing we drove around the crater and got out to learn stuff with our guide.
Saturday afternoon we went on a 1 ½ hour long horseback ride. My horse was named Carmel he was super sweet. On the horse ride we rode to the edge of Mitzpe Ramon. It was truly spectacular. The view was amazing!
Sunday morning all of us went over to a place called Silent Arrow it was archery in the desert. But Mommy didn't feel good so she went back to the farm. And the rest of us did archery. The archery was really fun. It was kind of like frisbee golf the way you walk around and shoot targets and balloons. After the archery we ate lunch in town and then hung out at the farm for the rest of the afternoon.
The next day we got up, ate breakfast then drove back to Tel Aviv.
I really liked Mitzpe Ramon. I wish to come back sometime!
